The Indian Caste System

The Indian Caste System

The modern caste system is basically the same as the ancient caste system but with a few more variations to modern times. The Caste system is basically a social discrimination separated into different levels of "class". The classes are more commonly known as varnas which is typically associated with Hinduism.
The first which is known as Vindhyas consists of a majority of high class Hindus which live in Northern India and speak a language derived from Sanskrit. After that there is the group known as the Dravidians which live to the south of the Vindhyas and speak a few different languages including Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam. A bit further on the list is a third group that consists of primitive tribes living in the hills and jungles of India. The people of this group make up about eight percent of the Indian population. The last group is made up of people with strong Mongolian features who live along the Himalayas and Assam mountains.
